Setting up FAQs
As per the DVLA:
"The term show plate is not a recognised term in law. A plate which contains a vehicle registration mark in any form and is designed to be fixed to a vehicle or trailer cannot be further qualified as a “show plate” or “not for road use” as a means of circumventing the legal requirements."
Therefore as a company, we made the decision not to offer "Show Plates". Firstly, we did not want our customers to potentially (knowingly or unknowingly) fall foul of the law, with a product supplied by us.
Secondly, and just as important, we did not want to enable cloning of plates through our service. No documentation is required when purchasing "Show Plates", making it very easy to buy ANY plate you like, whether you own that registration or not.
1. Find your perfect plate on our website and place an order.
2. In order for us to comply with the law, we need to see a physical copy of your documentation. In order to make this process as easy as possible we will send you a prepaid envelope addressed to ourselves for you to post your documentation.
3. As soon as we have received your documentation and we have satisfied the legally required checks we will make your plate and get it sent back to you ASAP, along with the documentation sent in step 2.
4. Fit your new plate to your car and recommend us to friends!
As per the DVLA, it is a legal requirement that "suppliers have sight of the original documentation for the customer's proof of identity and entitlement to the number plates requested... There are no exceptions to this requirement, and photocopies of documents or copies sent as an attachment to an email or submitted via a website are not acceptable for validation purposes."
We know there are other online suppliers that ask for documentation to be uploaded to their website (and this makes the sale much easier...) but we like to do things properly here at Revvs, and in order to comply with the law and assist in every way we can to prevent any vehicle being cloned we require the original documentation to be sent to us.
We have tried to make it as easy as possible however by sending a pre-paid envelope to you once an order is placed. Your documents will then be returned to you alongside your brand new plates.
